Iceland
Ever heard of Wow Airlines? We hadn’t either, but after our smooth
and comfortable 3hr flight to Iceland’s Keflavik airport, my family of four
were big fans of this small, modern outfit. We arrived at 11pm, still
wide awake and anticipating our week’s holiday exploring the natural
wonders of the western quarter of the island. Having left a hot and
muggy Gatwick in July it was something of a relief to feel the fresher,
cooler air and experience the late night summer twilight this close to
the Arctic Circle – daylight would start to creep back at about 4.00am.
We bought provisions at an all-night shop, grappling with the mental
maths of an exchange rate of 154 Icelandic Krona to the pound. This
was not going to be a cheap week.
