No, this isn’t some foreboding proclamation following the US elections; it is just an observation as I sit looking out of my office window here at Re: Towers. On the cover this issue is the music legend Chris Difford who has had more hits than Mike Tyson and has written some of the most memorable songs from my formative years. We met up with him in a beach hut at Lewes FC’s ground , The Dripping Pan where in recent years Chris’ band Squeeze (you may have heard of them) were the main shirt sponsors. Chris was utterly charming yet enigmatic. There have been a few changes to the line up here in the office as Laurence has moved on to pastures new and we have a new deputy editor – Amber Ainsworth. Amber joins fresh from a stint with a PR agency in Berlin; she has a Degree in Journalism and is doing a Masters in Creative Writing so I am hoping that she will pick up my grammatical errors. I have had the very great pleasure of reviewing some wonderful venues for this issue with Jo, an overnight stay at one of Brighton’s newest boutique hotels, The Charm; a cheese fest at La Cave a Fromage in Hove and a fabulous lunch at one of my favourite places, Jeremy’s in Borde Hill near Haywards Heath. I also got to test out the hybrid supercar BMW i8 bravely loaned to me by Andy Belton from Chandlers BMW. As the festive season approaches we have been out looking at gift ideas for that special someone in your life and the nice people at Hotel du Vin in Brighton are offering one lucky reader and seven friends a fantastic wine tasting event with their head sommelier in our reader competition. We are also very excited about a charity fundraiser that we are planning for March 2017 – The Brighton Medieval Banquet. This unique themed event will be held at The Grand and we are expecting over 400 on the night. There are details of how you can book your tickets along with a piece about medieval life in this issue. Talking of fundraising, Lee Hills has been white water rafting down the Zambezi and has shared his soggy account. Also on the travel front Carole Hewitt has written about her experience in Iceland which looks amazing and is definitely on my list of must see places. As always we have included some really informative pieces in this issue from a few of our expert solicitors on areas of the law that we think will be both interesting and helpful. If there are any particular legal topics you would like covered in a future issue then please let me know. This is now our 17th issue and although a lot of work goes into each issue the team here also have a lot of fun putting it together for you. We would love to get your opinion on Re: Magazine so that we can make sure that we continue to produce content that you want to read. Jason Edge Editor It’s always a bit manic in the Re: Magazine office around deadline and we occasionally miss the odd typo so if you spot one, do let me know.
