the town and hosts a wide variety of
concerts, comedy and films. The old
footbridge over to the beach has just
been replaced with a lovely new foot/
cycle bridge, which has improved
both access and the aesthetics of
the crossing. Part of the town centre
around the Norman Church of St
Mary has been pedestrianised and
frequently holds both French and
Farmers’ markets, which make for a
thriving and bustling community.
All this and the fact that you can still
be on a peaceful river bank or the
Downs five minutes after you leave the
front door, make Shoreham a lovely
place to be, though I have to agree
with Robin Churchill, (who wrote the
last Why I Love column about nearby
Worthing) in what I hope is my only bit
of plagiarism, that we could do without
those seagulls, especially when they
nest on your flat roof!
