Make up
tips
With the party season upon us, I’d like to
share some simple tips to get you looking
your sparkly best.
So now that your skin is well prepped,
let’s apply some makeup. A good place
to start is with your eyes.
To look stunning during the festive season
don’t be scared to add some glitz and
experiment with your makeup. The winter
holidays are the perfect time of the year to
allow yourself to look extra gorgeous.
There are a variety of ways you can
enhance your eyes, depending on their
shape. See the table below to determine
what eye shape you have. Eyeshadow
needs to be applied in a different way
for every eye shape in order enhance
or conceal different parts of the eyes.
Firstly, use an eye primer, this will ensure
your eyeshadow doesn’t crease and
stays looking good all night long.
As the time for getting ready for parties
is usually short, there are some beauty
tips that you can follow in order to get
that polished and impressive look, with
minimum effort. First thing to remember
is that your outfit is the thing that should
determine your makeup. How you do
it should depend on the colour and
style of your clothes along with the type
of accessories you are wearing, i.e.
elegant, glamorous or fun.
Before you start any makeup application
ensure your skin is clean and well
prepared you need to choose the
right products according to your skin
type, whether it is dry, normal or oily.
Well prepped and awake skin will look
great and “hold” the makeup for longer.
Personally I would not be able to live
without Dermalogica skin care products.
I always use the UltraCalming Cleanser
followed by Multi Active Toner and finish
with ether Active Moist or Skin Smoothing
Cream. I always find for those ladies
who have very dry skin under their eyes,
investing in a good eye cream is certainly
worth it, I recommend the Dermalogica
Eye Care range. This is a vital step to
nourish that delicate eye area. When
applying your eye cream make sure you
use your ring finger working from the
outer corner inwards and never pull or
press heavily in this area.

Metallics and glitter are everywhere this
season from bags to eyeshadows. So if
you are into a bit of sparkle it is time to
make your makeup even more glamorous!
If you don’t have enough time to play
with eyeshadows there are many
makeup brands that have long wear
cream eyeshadows, it takes seconds to
apply. You can even use your finger to
apply it; just make sure you soften/blend
the edges with the blending brush.
Next step is to apply eyeliner. Do so by
using a liquid or gel liner followed by a
black eye pencil if necessary. Eye pencils
will soften the look and fill in the possible
gaps you might have between the lash
hairs. If you are not a fan of eyeliner you
can use a darker colour eyeshadow on
your lash line. It will frame your
