And I would walk 100kms…
It appears in a moment of madness our
premises consultant, Sarah Smith, along
with some equally insane friends has
signed up to do Oxfam Trailwalker 2015
‘The ultimate team challenge’.
So from July 25-26 they will be attempting
to walk, stagger or crawl 100km over the
South Downs in under 30 hours.
Training started in January in the snow
and continues most Saturday or Sunday
mornings at the crack of dawn, so not
only are they looking at a summer with
mangled feet and no toenails but weekend
partying has become a rarity...for those of
you who know Sarah no wine on a Friday
is the ultimate sacrifice!

VJ Day Storrington
Staff at Mayo Wynne Baxter and Henry Adams Estate Agents in Storrington will be
donning their pin-ups and trilbies for an afternoon of vintage celebration on Friday
August 14, from 3pm. Why not come down and join us for an afternoon of nostalgia and
commemorate how VJ Day would have been celebrated 70 years ago? There will be live
music, plenty of scones and strawberries to enjoy along with a glass or two of Pimms.
On August 14, 1945, it was announced that Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the
Allies, effectively ending World War II. Since then, both August 14 and August 15 have
been known as “Victory over Japan Day,” or simply “V-J Day.”
Tour de MWB
Last year saw the first inter-office cycle ride which raised more
than £600 for our chosen charity, Macmillan in Sussex. One of
our solicitors, Joanna Ironside, came up with the original idea and
is delighted that there will be a repeat, especially as we can now
include our most recently acquired office, The Beehive at Gatwick.
This will really put our staff under the cosh but we hope to match,
and preferably top, the amount raised for our charity. There are
a number of staff volunteering for various stages of the ride and
we will inevitably have a hardcore contingent who will complete
the distance between all nine offices including Lewes, Brighton,
Eastbourne, Seaford Forest Row, East Grinstead, Storrington and
Pulborough. We will report on the outcome next issue.

Some of our staff were lucky enough
to attend this year’s ball which took
place at The Grand Hotel in Brighton on
May 15th. The evening started with a
drinks reception which gave people the
opportunity to network and mingle. This
was followed by a three-course dinner
then live music provided by Breakthrough
which certainly got people on the
dancefloor. There was an opportunity for
people to take part in a photoshoot using
a multitude of props including wigs, blowup guitars and a horse’s head...
