inflammation, gingivitis and cavities, oil pulling can help with these. When you swish the oil around your mouth, the bacteria clings and dissolves in the liquid oil. Basically, you remove a large amount of the bacteria and plaque in your mouth each time you do this. There are a lot of celebrities using this technique and showing their results on Instagram. I look forward to achieving the pearly whites they have. (We shall see!). The Body Scrub I make and use consists of just two ingredients; ½ cup of Coconut oil and 1 ½ cups of Sugar. This has a lovely subtle smell of coconut and leaves my skin feeling nourished and smooth – basically, amazing. I have given it as a gift to a number of people and I am already being asked when they can next have more. I tend to make it look prettier for presents by adding a little bit of food colouring and an essential oil, for example: a couple of drops of green food colouring and peppermint extract make an amazing mint green version. I put it in a mason jar and tie some string around it. Then you have a beautiful hand made gift perfect for Christmas. A friend introduced me to the ‘healthy’ coconut macaroons and she has them as her sweet treat while she follows her Paleo lifestyle. I tried one once and was pleasantly surprised. If you are trying to stick to a healthy lifestyle but you really need that ‘something sweet’ these will do just the job. Now of course they won’t taste just like the ones you get at the bakery but that is because they aren’t full of all that ‘bad refined sugar’. The taste is still there without all the guilt – why would you say no? Who doesn’t love to bake? That beautiful aroma filling the house and the delicious warm goodies to line your stomach and help you ‘fill out’ those jeans. I have always loved making a Banana loaf. I find it so easy and so yummy and a great way to use old bananas. This one has a bonus feature though - No added sugar. To make it you will need: • 3 ripe bananas • 3 eggs • /3 cup coconut oil Mix together and 1 bake at • tsp baking soda 350degrees for about 1 an hour • 1 tsp salt • 3 tbsp cinnamon • 1/4 cup walnuts chopped • 2 cups oats Now it is your turn to try it out. I challenge you to not find at least 1 use for it that you will benefit from. Remember, my list is not exhaustive; you will be amazing by how many uses and benefits you will find on the World Wide Web. You can buy it in Holland and Barrett and some supermarkets but the best value for money is from Amazon with free delivery. I usually pay around £9 for 500ml. I hope you enjoy and love it as much as I do! #COCONUTOIL By Aimee Wynne I wish I remembered more often to use it in my hair. The silky feeling afterwards is fabulous. To use as a conditioner for hair, take a tablespoon of the oil and rub it in your hands until it melts, rub it through the ends of your hair while it is dry, wrap a warm towel around your hair and leave for half an hour to an hour, or as long as you can. If your hair is really dry then it is worth using from the roots down but remember, it is an oil, so be sure to wash it out properly and don’t be surprised if your hair needs a wash again the next day. It will be worth the extra wash. Now, I love doing my nails and I admit it takes over most of my life but I swear by using a cuticle oil everyday. Once I found out the versatility of coconut oil I decided to try it on my cuticles and, of course, I love it.
