In the early days Paddle to surfers and watersports enthusiasts but has grown to be a huge family fun-filled event with all the usual suspects, from surfing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, skating, windsurfing and free running; along with new sports like Surf Life Saving, land paddling, Kitesurfing and freestyle mountain biking. With so much fantastic free fun to be had, along with stacks of great prizes, chances to try things for yourself, new bands to enjoy and mind blowing demonstrations to see, it now attracts around 55,000 over the two days. With the overwhelming support of the watersports industry, Brighton & Hove City Council and many local businesses like Mayo Wynne Baxter, Paddle Round the Pier 2016 was set to be the biggest Paddle ever. . The two day family fun charity festival which is in its 20th year is based in the Paddle Village on Hove lawns, right next to the sea. Whilst the sea played host to numerous races where teams and individuals undertook gruelling distance races in the wind and choppy waters the MWB team were cosy in our Hawaiian themed VIP marquee where we were entertaining guests over a glass of rum or fruit juice.
