Socks off and
See you in court
1 Crown Office Row once again delivered a hugely successful
mixed, beach volleyball tournament in Brighton this July.
The annual tournament is in aid of the
Rockinghorse Appeal children’s charity,
which aims to improve the lives of sick
children throughout Sussex. This year,
not only were teams raising funds for this
worthy cause, but also competing for
‘The Ghulam Hussain Cup’. The trophy
was created in honour and memory of a
COR associate who passed away earlier
in the year and, who I am told, was a
keen beach volleyball player.
On Friday July 3, 17 teams comprising
law firms, accountancy firms, barristers’
chambers and property agents from
in and around Sussex, descended the
sandy dunes of the Yellow Wave on
Madeira Drive, to battle for the title.

MWB team mates; Michael Mulcare,
Darren Stone, Aimee Wynne, Nick

the evening was going to be both
competitive and relaxed. Fellow teams
were already mingling over drinks in
the sunshine, while others had begun
limbering up on all six volleyball courts
which were booked for the event.

but instead progressed to the knockout
stages of the tournament as runners up
in our group. A special mention to Darren
Stone who was particularly astute in his
return volleys and Rhys who was fearless
