and we quickly became lost. I quickly
realised that high heels are not for the
faint hearted in Venice and they were
quickly returned to my suitcase, never
to make an appearance again! We must
have walked the same streets numerous
times but in the end we managed to find
the restaurant down a little tiny walkway.
We went to Ristorante Alle Corone which
is located inside a hotel with amazing
views of a very small canal. We had a
seat by the window and really enjoyed
watching the gondolas go by while
we were served four-courses of delish
Italian cuisine. I love food - I love eating
it and cooking it. Italian food is one of
my favourite cuisines and so you can
imagine my delight when I was reliably
informed by my guide book that many
restaurants in Italy are offended if you do
not sample the full four-courses on offer.
On this particular occasion we thought
we would make the most of it and I
opted for a menu of scallops with a truffle
spoon, rabbit tagliatelle, a rack of lamb
and then melt in the middle chocolate
pudding for dessert. This was only the
start of our food journey and I promised
myself that I would not be stepping on
the scales when I got home! The food
in Venice is to die for. From huge bowls
of pasta and big plates of pizza to more
delicate plates of finely cut meats, every
morsel was delicious. The Italians truly
are feeders and there are plenty of great
restaurants to enjoy.
