Re: Autumn 2015 | Page 63

Tour De MWB 2015 Inspired by the success of last year’s event in July we decided to hold another cycle ride around the fair county of Sussex, visiting each of our offices, and raising money for Macmillan. To add a little further interest since last year’s event we had of course added three further offices in Pulborough, Storrington and Gatwick. As we arrived at the start point of Lewes happily the early morning rain subsided so that although we had some spray from the roads we were otherwise able to keep dry, and by the time we reached the first coffee stop (a key feature of any cycle tour) at East Grinstead the sun was shining brightly. Battling the odd short sharp hill (Russ Hill or the climb to West Chiltington Golf Club anyone?) we swung round past Gatwick to Pulborough, then on to Storrington and headed for the South Coast at Steyning where further coffee (and lunch this time) was taken. A sunny but breezy nip along the coast took in Brighton, then Seaford and left just Eastbourne to go before we could call it a day. The afternoon sunshine did make it picturesque, but the grind along the coast road up from Seven Sisters is still a bit of an effort, and coming in after 95 miles makes it no easier. However, as is always the case the downhill, and in this instance the view, made the climb worth the effort
