Montreal
We booked a night here before flying home (BA didn’t fly from Quebec) so it is probably unfair to judge it. We had seen news reports earlier that Montreal was really struggling to afford the cost of maintaining its infrastructure with so many old concrete roadways, flyovers and bridges. The route in and also the route to the airport do feel like you’ve entered a concrete jungle. The satnav didn’t seem happy as it took us to a completely incorrect address. All of the hotel concierge staff in the City were on a ‘work to rule’ as part of an ongoing contract negotiation. By the time we arrived we were tired and ready to go home and having packed the cases for one last time we did a little sight-seeing and some shopping along the equivalent of Oxford Street.
