Here’s a look at the venue’s burgeoning theatre programme - the pinnacle of which is three very special reinterpretations of classic stories.   Just when you thought that Lewis Carroll’s singular classic Alice in Wonderland (29-30 Oct) couldn’t get any more bizarre and beautiful, Welsh theatre company Volcano decided to plunge down the rabbit-hole and drank all the potions they could lay their hands on. Carroll’s exquisitely deranged tale of childhood, misunderstanding and adventure is about what the behaviour of one generation looks like through the eyes of another.  In Volcano’s version, starring Jenny Runacre as the titular character, the strangeness of the world Alice encounters is not removed from everyday reality but deeply rooted in the insanities of our culture and society. A mixture of fascination, horror and humour, it’s certainly not one for the children! One of the most exciting pieces of theatre to visit the city in autumn is innovative theatre company Transport’s new reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s popular comedy As You Like It (9-10 Nov). The tale of Rosalind, the daughter of an exiled leader who falls in love with Orlando and is subsequently banished to the wild depths of a forest, it’s a vibrant, touching, and timely story about love, statelessness, and above all the human capacity to endure. However, by underpinning Shakespeare’s text with references to contemporary political exile, Transport use their strong visual, sonorous, filmic, ensemble and physical style to re-invent the story; making the play modern, accessible and offering audiences new perspectives on the wider society, the wider world and the Bard himself. Co-produced with Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich and featuring an international cast, Transport’s take on this fantastical tale of love in exile promises to be an unmissable piece of theatre. Do you fancy paella with Prospero? Or a cream tea with a Capulet? One of the highlights of the 2008 Brighton Festival was Hydrocracker’s Shakespeare a La Carte. The theatre company - a Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival Associate Company - took the public by storm when it offered audiences the chance to order up their favourite bits of Shakespeare, together with coffee and croissant. It’s no surprise to hear that Radio 4 described the show as “delicious... a clever gem of a production”. This autumn the sell-out show returns to the city (20 Nov) with some of the Bard’s best bits - and a few surprises - all served up at your table within Brighton Dome’s café-ba "?2?????W2?v?BWB?B?v^( ?fRv?C?( ?G&vVG??6??VG????7F?'??7F?&??7F?&??6??6????7F?&?6??7F?&??G&v?6???7F?&?6??G&v?6??6??6??7F?&?6??7F?&??( ???6W'fVBv?F?f?GF?W2?fW'6R?B6?FR?&FW"?b??&?2V?F?WFW"? *??F?RWGV??F?VG&R6V6???6?6VW2&?fW76????f??????F????&W6V?B?WfV???r?b??&?f?6F????B??v??BW&f?&??6R?????r??^( ?2f????B?R6W???V???Rv??6??bgVV?FV??F?R7F?'??bGv?v??V?v??6R?fW2??FW&6???V7BFW7?FR?f??r?V'2'B????G66R???#"?7B??B?V?F??v&Bv?????rW7G&??F?VG&R??W"7GV'B&?vFV?&WGW&?F?'&?v?F??v?F?7V6??F?V&?R?&????b?Wr6??r6?Rv2&?&&???B&?&?B?BF?R?V6????fVBF?Rv?&?B???G2WfW'???R'B?'Bg&??W2?2??b??G&rf'V?7BF?6??R&VR&V?V?&W'2F?RFW2?b?VG?v&??B?B?&??????&?R????f??r7GVG??b?6??2??W???R??&?6??WG3?Gv??v?B?bF?R?F??2?#?#??b??v???7B7F??????BF?VG&R&W6V?B????&??V7B?#B?7B??f?7V??'&W7F??r6??rF?BW???&W2??r??R???V?B??F??R6??FW"F?R6?6????w??bWfW'?F???r*F?W&R?26??V6?v???r??F??2WGV???V????'?6?&?26???2'&?v?F??F??R??&p??SP???
