The advantage of written feedback is that it can be re-read, as opposed to oral feedback that can easily be forgotten. The text allows the student to reflect afterwards: “I am well on the way to becoming a professional ... not surprised about the issues I need to improve” (D11P). The benefit is that the formative feedback, as opposed to a summative assessment, offered the opportunity to focus on the learning need and left enough time to improve.
