Amplifying the student voice
Providing opportunities for the student voice to be
listened to and acted on was very important in 2014-15
in relation to some of the challenges they faced. Student
representatives met regularly with the Principal and
other senior managers throughout the year, and Board
members engaged with students at a range of events.
Plans have been made for 2015-16 for the Student
Association and the Quality Enhancement team to
enhance the collection of student views and ensure that
they influence development at all levels in the College.
Impact of ACSA on the wider
community
The Student Association is a vibrant part of College life
and was very active throughout 2014-15 organising and
participating in a variety of fundraising and awareness
activities during the year which made a significant
contribution to the wider community. These included the
‘Go Purple’ campaign in support of the Ayrshire Hospice,
a Cash for Kids Superhero Day, and fundraisers for Clic
Sargent House and Red Nose Day.

Quality enhancement staff supported ACSA in the
election of class representatives and almost all classes
had a representative appointed in 2014-15. Class
representatives participated in tailored training sessions
to support them in their roles, which allowed them to
engage effectively in the college evaluation processes
throughout the year. They were further supported by
ACSA through monthly meetings and focus groups.
