Responding to student and employer feedback the
team introduced new courses to improve articulation
from SCQF Level 3 to 9 and ensure pathways were
understood by students from the application stage.
Employers engaged with a direct recruitment
programme facilitated within the College. Students
who were interested in a job opportunity participated
in a skills test that was observed and marked by the
employer. Those who were successful were invited
for a further interview. Students were successful in
obtaining job offers within Trump Turnnberry and
Lochside Spa. Those who were unsuccessful received
constructive feedback for further interviews.
Integrated industry product qualifications delivered
by industry specialists to Level 6, HNC and HND
courses which improved the employability outcomes
of students.
Weekly surgeries led by curriculum managers made
students feel that they could speak to someone when
they needed to, rather than waiting for guidance slots
or appointments with Student Services. A summer
school helped to prepare students with the further
development of interpersonal skills and confidence
building prior to progressing to the next level where
the interaction with clients is essential.

The staff made good use of Moodle for practical
demonstrations and collaborated with the College’s
learning technologists to develop new and improve
existing teaching resources. Recognising that students
accessed Moodle in the evening, curriculum staff
monitored it to provide support to students.
