CREATIVE Hair, Beauty and Complementary Therapies Responding to student and employer feedback the team introduced new courses to improve articulation from SCQF Level 3 to 9 and ensure pathways were understood by students from the application stage. Employers engaged with a direct recruitment programme facilitated within the College. Students who were interested in a job opportunity participated in a skills test that was observed and marked by the employer. Those who were successful were invited for a further interview. Students were successful in obtaining job offers within Trump Turnnberry and Lochside Spa. Those who were unsuccessful received constructive feedback for further interviews. Integrated industry product qualifications delivered by industry specialists to Level 6, HNC and HND courses which improved the employability outcomes of students. Weekly surgeries led by curriculum managers made students feel that they could speak to someone when they needed to, rather than waiting for guidance slots or appointments with Student Services. A summer school helped to prepare students with the further development of interpersonal skills and confidence building prior to progressing to the next level where the interaction with clients is essential. 44 AYRSHIRE COLLEGE / QUALITY REPORT 2014/15 Click to view ‘Urban Hair Hairdressing Apprentice’ The staff made good use of Moodle for practical demonstrations and collaborated with the College’s learning technologists to develop new and improve existing teaching resources. Recognising that students accessed Moodle in the evening, curriculum staff monitored it to provide support to students.
