Sport and Fitness Students benefited from a wide range of partnership initiatives to promote, foster and develop sports activities in communities across Ayrshire. Every student at every course level was exposed to working with diverse groups which enriched their academic experience significantly. All sport and fitness students delivered sport development activities to pupils in primary, secondary and Additional Support Needs schools via the pan-Ayrshire Active Schools partnership. HND Fitness students worked with KA Leisure staff and customers on the practical delivery of Current Exercise Trend, Fitness Assessment and Personal Training. Students benefited from real world experience by supporting their clients to meet their exercise and wellbeing goals. Scottish Disability Sport delivered specialist practical workshops to students to show how sport can overcome barriers. Students applied this learning in volunteering opportunities, for example by working with athletes with disabilities at Beith Astro, Ayrshire Sportsability and in delivering activity sessions to children with varied and complex additional needs at Hayesholm School. 42 AYRSHIRE COLLEGE / QUALITY REPORT 2014/15 Participation in a wide and varied range of community projects and events enabled sports students to develop strong UCAS applications for progressing to university.
