SPECIAL EVENT AUSTRALIA
CULTURAL
COLLISIONS
GRAINGER | GRIFFINS
Curated and devised by JONATHAN MILLS
Take one of music’s most brilliant and eccentric
revolutionaries. Take two architects who reinvented
space itself. Now watch as genius is multiplied.
Pianist and composer Percy Grainger’s radical
imagination was never limited by musical convention,
and the percussive shockwaves he set in effect are still
felt today. Architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion
Mahony Griffin’s visions of the built environment
were just as far-seeing, and exploded the possibilities
of urban design. What happens when these three
mavericks collide?

and wondrous, inventive and awe-inspiring, it’s a
program that could never be repeated elsewhere.
