Prolight + Sound 2017 Presents New Silent Stage
The upcoming Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt , Germany , happening April 4-7 , 2017 , will feature a new silent stage area to demonstrate and teach how this type of stage set-up can help improve both the mix and the performance of musical acts . The idea behind the silent stage is to cut onstage noise levels to a minimum using , for example , amp simulations , isolation boxes , drum cages , electronic musical instruments , and no monitoring loudspeakers .
Initially , visitors only hear quiet music via the PA system but , via listening terminals in front of the stage , they can immerse themselves in the band ’ s transparent sound made possible by the silent stage concept . Additionally , visitors interested in headphones will be able to test the various in-ear and on-ear products from the exhibitors taking part in the special area . Together with the band , a presenter will explain the techniques used on the stage in detail and answer questions . The program will be held in English .

Rob Hofkamp to Lead Void Acoustics in North America
Rob Hofkamp has been appointed to the position of North American director of operations for British loudspeaker manufacturer Void Acoustics .
Hofkamp plans to expand Void ’ s dealer base in North America . In 2015 , the company incorporated in America and opened a warehouse facility in New York . Hofkamp ’ s appointment completes Void ’ s plan to set up a base of operations in North America and to build a team of system integrators and dealerships throughout the territory .

Education Schedule Released for Expo-Scène 2017
CITT / ICTS is preparing to welcome more than 60 exhibitors and over 1,200 visitors to Montreal for the third annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference , which is returning to the Palais des congrès de Montréal from April 12-13 , 2017 . Expo-Scène is currently the only major Canadian event dedicated to professionals in the pro audio , lighting , audiovisual , video , and multimedia technology markets .
For this year , educational seminars in French and English are scheduled for the afternoons of both days of the show , spread across four studio spaces . Some of the scheduled presentation topics include real-world beamforming , microphone techniques in live sound and theatre , future skills for technicians , networking , and customs and transportation when crossing the border .
