Soundelux U99 Multi-Pattern Tube Microphone
Soundelux USA, a division of Bock Audio, has introduced the U99 multi-pattern tube microphone, which is inspired by the Neumann
U67.
Hand-built by David Bock, the U99 features a K67 dual symmetrical backplate dual membrane capsule along with the signature
“fat” switch featured on the U195 microphone and a new high frequency “boost-flat-cut” switch. The U99 is designed to have enough
proximity effect to sound full, but not so much that it sounds “boomy.” This makes it a natural on vocals, acoustic instruments, and
drums thanks to an onboard pad switch.
Like all Soundelux USA mics, the U99 uses a “new old stock” tube and true linear high current power supply. The electronics circuit
differs from the vintage 67 in its departure from non-removable frequency shaping components and the removal of gain controlling
negative feedback. It also features a larger output transformer to increase the low frequency headroom.

Dynaudio LYD 48 Studio Monitor
Dynaudio has expanded its LYD studio monitor range with the LYD 48, which couples an 8-in. and a 4-in. woofer with a 1-in. tweeter for a three-way design
that makes it well-suited for nearfield and midfield monitor applications.
Each of the woofers and the tweeter are powered by a dedicated Class D amplifier, delivering 80 W/50 W/50 W of power per monitor. The amp features
a 96 kHz/24-bit signal path and selectable input sensitivity and the same standby mode as the original LYD speakers.
Also, like the other LYD monitors, the three-way version features Bass Extension, allowing for a choice between the default setting or pushing towards
maximum bass or maximum volume. Switching between these modes affects the low-end response by employing a tilt, but the linear frequency response
and phase remain intact.
