VISITOR NUMBERS SET TO DOUBLE AT CONSTRUCTION WEEK

UK Construction Week at the Birmingham NEC from 18th to 20th October combines nine shows in one location . With over 24,000 trade visitors last year - a figure expected to double at this year ’ s event - the show boasts over 1,000 exhibitors . Visitors are able to attend Timber Expo , the Build Show , Civils Expo , the Surface and Materials Show , Energy 2016 , Plant & Machinery Live , HVAC 2016 , Smart Buildings 2016 and Grand Designs Live . Following the success of last year ’ s event , UK Construction Week will once again offer more than just access to hundreds of industry leading exhibitors and associated products and services . With several new industry awards celebrating excellence in the sector , the entertainment programme will also see the return of its popular beer festival and other fun events .
Skills , investment and Brexit are all on the agenda at UK Construction Week . Some of the biggest names in broadcasting and beyond , including George Clarke , Steph McGovern and Victoria Fritz will host the main stage seminar schedule . George Clarke kicks off day one with a heavyweight panel discussion centred on Chancellor George Osborne ’ s quote that the UK doesn ’ t ‘ train enough or build enough or invest enough .’ Adrian Belton , chief executive of the Construction Industry Training Board ( CITB ), is among the panellists . The world-renowned Genting International Casino at Resorts World Birmingham will be hosting a dedicated UK Construction Week casino night on the second evening of the show ( 19th October ). Just a five-minute walk from the doors of UK Construction Week and conveniently located to nearby hotels , the night offers a
chance for visitors and exhibitors to relax , network and perhaps chance their luck in one of the many games on offer . On the first evening of UK Construction Week there will be a black-tie gala at the new Vox , NEC Birmingham venue , to host the first Construction Enquirer Awards . With an expected audience of 500 people , the awards are open to contractors , clients and suppliers , with the winners decided by an industry vote . A Top Ten will be published for the 12 different categories and the winners revealed on the night . Tickets and tables

In addition , UK Construction Week will host several other new industry awards including the Concrete Awards as part of the Surface & Materials Show in partnership with World Architecture News ( WAN ), the Infrastructure Awards as part of Civils Expo in partnership with WAN also , the Structural Timber Awards in partnership with the Structural Timber Association ( STA ) and the BIM Awards in partnership with the Building Research Establishment ( BRE ).

Construction Week including breakfast briefings with Glenigan and the Construction Products Association ( CPA ). The National Custom and Self Build Association ( NaCSBA ) will also be announcing the winner of £ 5,000 and its ‘ Self Build on a Shoestring ’ competition at Grand Designs Live . In addition , ITN Productions in partnership with the Home Builders ’ Federation ( HBF ) will be launching its ‘ Foundations for the Future ’ news-style programme at the Build Show . The programme will explore the state of the home building industry today . Furthermore , the coveted Irwin Tools Tradesperson of the Year award will also be announced during the show .

JCB And Caterpillar Among Build Show Exhibitors

The Build Show has announced a raft of top industry names exhibiting at the Birmingham NEC from 18th-20th October . From architect to bricklayer , the Build Show promises to have something for everyone . Already signed up to exhibit are some of the biggest names in construction , including Caterpillar Inc ., the world ’ s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment . Another instantly recognisable name exhibiting at the show is JCB . As one of the world ’ s top three manufactures of construction equipment you can find a JCB machine in every corner of the globe . The company has
some of the finest engineering facilities and produces a range of over 300 machines , like the Teletruk telescopic forklift , which will be on display at the Build Show . Commenting on the company ’ s appearance at
this years ’ event , Nicola Bagworth , JCB industry general manager said : “ We are looking forward to highlighting the benefits of JCB ’ s telescopic forklift , the JCB Teletruk . It ’ s a platform to show the time and space
saving benefits this product offers .” The UK ’ s largest multi-channel supplier of construction goods , Screwfix , will also be in attendance . With over 30 years ’ experience of supplying tradesmen , handymen and serious DIY enthusiasts , the company has a product range of 25,000 items . Stephen Henagulph , business to business manager at Screwfix commented : “ Our stand received a great response at last year ’ s show . As a result , we decided we would take a much larger stand and play a far bigger role in the Build Show this year .” As an importer , manufacturer and distributor of fixings , temporary protection
and safety products , Bryson understands all sides of the supply chain . It will be bringing its full range of Bryson branded products to the show as well as its growing range of private label products . Connection technology specialists , Easy-Trim Roofing and Construction Products Ltd is also scheduled to exhibit . The manufacturer and distributor of roofing and construction products and consumables , famous for its ‘ easy ’ philosophy , plans to showcase a selection of innovative roofing and construction equipment . Another industry-leading tool manufacturer , Milwaukee is set to bring its vast array of power tools and accessories to Build Show .
Nathan Garnett , show director at Media 10 – the organisers of Build Show and UK Construction Week , said : “ We expect around 10,000 products and services to be on display at this year ’ s event .” Build Show will also host workshops , features and seminars discussing the industry ’ s most topical issues . These include the Skills and Apprenticeship workshop , a Home Building Theatre and a Business Advice Centre advising small to medium sized builders how to compete with the bigger developers .
