20 OCTOBER 2016 PRO INSTALLER PRO NEWS www.proinstaller.co.uk MAJOR NEW RANGE UNVEILED Spectus has launched 40 new ancillaries, more than doubling its existing offering and creating what the business describes as the most extensive and versatile range of its kind. From bay jacks to frame packers, Georgian bars to drip bars, couplers, lugs and architraves, the new Spectus ancillary range gives fabricators and installers more choices and opportunities to finish every job the way it is meant to be, in looks and functionality. The launch is the result of significant investment by Spectus into product development, including retooling of common sections, and is further endorsement of the system supplier’s ongoing commitment to giving its customers the products they need to gain a competitive edge in the market. “Fabricators and installers want choices,” said Spectus technical director Martin Althorpe. “They want the right ancillaries for every job, they want them to fit perfectly, to look right and to be easy to work with, so that is what we have given them with this new extended range. “Every new component, just like the existing ones, is designed to co-ordinate with our main systems and every PVCu item is available as an exact match to our many colour and foil options. So when we say 40 new items, add the colour options and in fact there are hundreds.” In the extended range, fabricators and installer can now find: seven new bay pole assembly items – including three different external covers – a new section of ten finishers including four sizes of architrave, seven new coupling items and a host of other essential bits and pieces. Martin Althorpe concluded: “Some system suppliers may see ancillaries as an afterthought or a make-do-andmend but we do not. We know that they are an essential ingredient to a fabricator or installer finishing every job to look and perform the way it should.” The entire new ancillaries range is featured in a new brochure, which also includes a wallchart, available from marketing@spectus. co.uk or to download from www.Spectus.co.uk Door entry system offers freedom with security Videx has launched a GSM door entry system that uses mobile technology to communicate and operate doors, automatic gates, car parks and remote site applications. The GSM PRO intercoms are available in kit form or as part of the 4000 Series modular door entry system for single call button applications covering up to 50 apartments, all with the facility to divert to three additional numbers if the first is busy or unanswered. Steve Natton, special projects manager at Videx UK, said: “We’re excited to introduce our new GSM system as it’s the next generation of Videx GSM that provides users with much greater security and freedom. The intercom enables people to answer calls to their front door or gate from their mobile phone or land line so they never have to miss that important visitor and are made aware of who has visited even when they are not there. The systems provide spoken call progress ‘the next generation of Videx GSM that provides users with much greater security and freedom’ information so that the visitor is informed how the call is progressing. Four call progress LEDs also offer the visitor a visual indication of the call’s status.” Programming is carried out via SMS messaging or using the micro USB connection and specially developed PC software. The intercoms also include an exit button input, auxiliary inputs and outputs and a dry contact relay. Kits are supplied with a surface or flush housing, antenna and 2A power supply unit. Steve added: “An exciting new feature to GSM PRO is the integrated proximity access control (for up to 1,000 users). Administrators can remotely manage their access control user fobs and cards, eliminating the need for the engineer to visit site to enrol, modify or delete users. “The reader is concealed behind the call button name plate window meaning the door panel is no larger than the previous version that doesn’t carry this feature and, importantly, is half the length of previous proximity access door panels. Programming options are by text or via the PC software and an optional desk mount proximity reader is also available to enrol large numbers of users quickly. In addition to the 1,000 user proximity access control, there is also a 1,000 user dial to open access control where users can dial the intercom number to release a door or gate without being charged for the call.” Other key features of the GSM intercom include an event log maintained within the entry panel. This will log events such as who is being called and when, who’s opened the door or gate and many other functions. The operation voltage is also wider than the previous version - it is now 12-24V AC or DC and the bespoke PC software within the intercom includes many features to simplify the installation and programming process.
