Sales for their Grip It Fixings product have rocketed by over 600% since the show featured the invention in August, with trades-people keen to get their hands on the latest innovation. The Grip It Fixing is a revolutionary new design of universal fixing, designed for use with all types of plasterboard installation. The unique wing design makes the fixing easily removable and reusable, meaning no part gets lost in cavity walls, and it can also support loads of up to 180kg. IronmongeryDirect, which supplies over 14,500 different products to the trade, report that in the weeks after the show, the fixings have become one of their top sellers. Wayne Lysaght-Mason, Managing Director at IronmongeryDirect, said: “Demand has rocketed for Jordan’s clever invention since it featured on the show, with sales well on the way to justifying Deborah’s decision to invest £80,000 for a 25% stake in the company which manufactures the product.” The Grip It Fixing was originally invented by 76-year old Grandfather, Stan Daykin and his Grandson Jordan Daykin at the age of 13 when attempting to fit blinds in a house. Jordan took the product to market in 2013. Grip It is already trading in Germany and Belgium, with a patent pending in America where the market is seven-times larger than the UK. The range was developed by VBH head office in Germany, where doors are commonly fitted with a key operated (wind-up) lock and pull handle and used in place of a lever handle set. VBH (GB) invested in stock in January 2014, and now delivers most of the nine basic designs from its Kent warehouse. All greenteQ pull handles are manufactured from hard wearing 1.4301 austenitic stainless steel (grade 304A2), which provides good resistance to weather and pollution-associated corrosion. There are options of 90° or 45° projection, and with standard or extended legs. Dependant on the specific design required, the handles are available from 300mm–1800mm high and can be used either singularly or in pairs on many door materials including composite, PVCu, timber, aluminium and glass. VBH Area Sales Manager, Jan Zammit, said: “Many door manufacturers are offering their customers more choice in terms; of door style and operation in a bid to differentiate their products from the norm, and to help achieve higher sales turnover. This in turn, can lead to further options and the sale of other locking systems and furniture. Pull handles were once the preserve of commercial doors, but are now being specified on many domestic installations in the UK and Ireland. “It is important for us to provided our customers with a steady stream of top quality, competitively priced products and we are extremely lucky at VBH (GB), not only to have our own greenteQ range of products developed specifically for the UK and Irish markets, b
