GOLD!
Metal Technology Quality Control Manager Pam Peard
and her partner Sian Williams did the aluminium
systems company proud with their gold medal winning
performance in the ladies doubles at the World Senior
Badminton Championships (Over 50s group) recently.
Sponsorship from Metal
Technology meant that
the pair, who have
played together as a
team for more than 30
years, and who were
already National Veterans Champions, were
able to fly to Ankara in
Turkey for the weeklong tournament with
their entry fees, kit and
other expenses covered.
Pam confirmed that the
competition was tough, with
her and Sian having to beat
teams from strong Badminton nations, including
the English second seeds,
to reach the final. The pair
triumphed in three sets,
beating a strong team comprising a Dane who took
the ladies singles crown and
a Chinese Taipei competitor who won the mixed
doubles.

Metal Technology Managing Director Calvin Wilson said: “As a high-performance company, we
like to be associated with
winners. Pam and Sian
deserved our support and
we are delighted that they
were able to fulfil their
potential and bring home
the Gold.”
