The Liverpool-based PVCu and aluminium fabricator was a shirt sponsor for the twoday ‘Peddling for Jac’ cycle ride, organised by long-standing customer Mark Blackwell, director of Anglesey-based DU Construction Ltd. The 15-strong team of riders and support drivers completed the 135-mile ride safely from Gobowen Hospital in North Wales to Cardiff over the weekend of April 8 to 10. They raised a total of nearly £20,000 – nearly double their original target. It was the fifth charity bike ride for Mark who is raising money for treatment to help his three-yearold godson Jac walk unaided and live a normal active life. Mark says: “We are delighted that Total Glass has supported us and their gesture is very much appreciated. Thanks to everyone who has donated so generously; they have helped us to really smash our original target.” He added: “We all have hopes for Jac’s progress through the centre’s Targeted Training programme and believe that whatever his potential is, the movement centre will help him fulfil it. It could be literally life-changing. We have raised enough to cover the cost of Jac’s treatment, and anything over and above will help kids like him.” Phill Cresswell, Total Glass Sales and Marketing Manager commented: “Where possible, as a company we aim to support community and charity projects so we were only too happy to help. Congratulations to Mark and his team on their fantastic achievement.” For more information, contact Total Glass on 0151 549 2339 or visit www.totalglass.com MARATHON SUPERHEROES AT TEMBÉ DIY More than 1,000 ‘superheroes’ donned capes, headbands and trainers to take part in the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon. The runners, including Guy Malam and Kevin Heath from Doncaster based Tembé DIY, were competing to raise vital funds for Children with Cancer UK. Guy Malam, who is Managing Director of Tembé DIY & Building Products, said: “Cancer is the biggest child-killer disease in the UK. Almost 4,000 children Pick up the PRO Installer, FREE, from one of over 600 trade counters. and young people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK every year and the incidence has been on the increase. There are more than 50 types of childhood cancer. “Thanks to research funded by Children with Cancer UK, survival rates for the most common form of childhood cancer, leukaemia, have increased dramatically over the past 50 years, but for some rare types of cancer survival rates remain at zero. Tembé is proud to continue doing its part to help raise money for a cure.” Many of the staff at Tembé DIY live in and around Epworth and have been affected by the story of Epworth seven-year-old Alexander Strong who was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma on Christmas Eve 2009. Sadly, he lost his battle in January 2013 after fighting the disease. To help Children with Cancer UK, visit childrenwithcancer.org.uk www.tembediy.com ADF PLASTICS LTD
