try ’ s only qualification and awarding body , to underpin our approach that qualification of operatives is the bedrock for long term success .
“ We have formed CORGI Fenestration as a fully licensed business with exclusive use of the CORGI brand in the fenestration industry ”.
Caitriona Deakin , chief executive officer of CORGI Services , welcomed CORGI Fenestration and said : “ CORGI has continued to look at other industries where delivering a service to the homeowner in a
trusted and reliable way is a key element of the route to market .
“ We have had many approaches over the years , and turned down many potential opportunities , but when we met with Chris Mayne and Jacqueline Crawford it became clear that through their knowledge of the fenestration industry and their approach to business that we had a meeting of minds about how service should be delivered .
“ Their ethos is clearly the same as our own - wanting all tradespeople involved in the supply chain to be suitably and formally
trained and qualified to do the jobs they are required to do in order to deliver a truly reliable service to the consumer .
“ CORGI Fenestration is entirely complementary to other CORGI licences which are active in the building services sector such as heating and plumbing .”
Mick Clayton , chief executive of GQA , said : “ I think that our industry has a great many very experienced people who deliver great products and services , but there are gaps .
“ There is no automatic update mechanism for our industry ’ s people to learn
about new products , new regulations or new legislation – and away from existing people there is little or no process to attract new young recruits to our industry . This especially is a massive problem , and it is why in my opinion this new and exciting association with such a recognised and trusted brand is so important for the fenestration industry .”

NO COMPROMISE CONTRACT

A large bespoke private house in rural Cheshire proved to be the ideal showpiece for the VEKA PVCu vertical slider . It also demonstrated how the classical styling of the VS , including many heritage authenticity features , can be just as much at home in a new-build setting .
Based on the unusual combination of cream foil out / white foil in , the house uses both straight and arched frames , with astragal bars as well as deep bottom rail and run-through horns for maximum authenticity . The result is a look which accentuates rather than contrasts the classical but uncluttered lines of the property .
Oldham-based D & M Windows , a VEKA Approved Installer with extensive experience of large and prestigious installations , was chosen by main contractor H Cumberbirch & Son to install 66 windows and French doors fabricated by The Glazerite UK Group Ltd , the UK ’ s largest VEKA trade fabricator , with the cream / white foil as a special order .
“ This was a no-compromise contract right from the beginning ,” said D & M managing director Mark Hoolickin .
“ The client expected the best of everything and , with the help of the VEKA system and Glazerite , we were able to deliver it , from product specification to the design and look of the finished product and of course
the finishing touches that make this VS so authentic looking .”
Glazerite ’ s Peter Smith added : “ This was an unusual choice of foil combinations but dual foil is becoming more and more in demand and we are happy to supply
any combination across our entire range of door and window styles .
“ This was just one aspect of the exact design and appearance that the client wanted and , as ever , D & M was able to meet all his expectations and we were more than happy to be on hand to help wherever needed .”
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd is VEKA ’ s largest trade fabricator in the UK and a long-standing Network VEKA member . It offers a fully nationwide service based on manufacturing units in Northants , Peterborough and Greater Manchester as well as its South West distribution hub in Bristol serving south Wales and the west of England .

Lower prices , faster lead times

Wellingborough fabricator Astraseal has reduced lead times and the price on its Smarts Visofold aluminium bifold doors .
Thanks to a new aluminium factory , which has increased capacity by five times , the products now come with two-week lead times when ordered in white or grey .
“ The reason we ’ ve been able to provide such a great deal , with such short lead times , is due to the economies of scale we can achieve with our new , dedicated aluminium factory ,” commented Astraseal ’ s sales
and marketing manager , Zac Nedimovic .
“ Setting up a 25,000 square-foot aluminium factory was obviously a huge investment , and required massive amounts of time and effort to get up and running . But now it ’ s fantastic – complete with a brand new 600mm saw it ’ s boosted our aluminium capacity by five times , and we ’ re now able to buy aluminium profile in much higher quantities , meaning better prices for our trade customers .”
