MILWOOD
EXPANDS
TRADE
PARTNER
NETWORK
Milwood was looking forward
to adding new resellers to
its ever expanding national
network of trade partners
following a successful
FIT Show in Telford.
»»The team, exhibiting for the first time
at the event, showcased the company’s
innovative kit-form carports, canopies and
veranda systems. Several systems were
on display for potential resellers to see,
test and discuss. Along with a ‘golden
hot tub canopy centrepiece’ provided for
the exhibitor champagne reception, the
highlight of the show for Milwood was
the launch of its new Simplicity Alfresco
veranda system.
Mark Bayley, marketing manager, said: “It
has been designed with one of the glazing
industry’s leading product designers so is
stylish as well as easy to install. Cabling
can be added for heating, lighting or
sound systems without exposing any
unattractive wires thanks to the aluminium
easy-fix profiles.” The Simplicity Alfresco
has a variable pitch system unlike many
competing products and combined with a
massive 6m span between posts ensures
customer’s views are never compromised.
Operations manager, Kevin Horne said
the company had ‘literally hundreds of
visitors’ to its stand. He said: “It’s great to
see the industry so buoyant and we had a
lot of interest in the Simpl icity Alfresco.
“The stand gave us the opportunity to
meet potential resellers and for them to
see the quality of our systems as well
as being able to demonstrate our online
quoting system where resellers can create
a professional and detailed customer quote
in just a few minutes. We look forward to
adding new resellers to our ever expanding
national network of trade partners.”
All extrusions are held in stock to 6m
lengths and are tailored to fit individual
customer requirements. Products are
supplied direct to the trade – window, door
and home improvement companies - and
Milwood offers full marketing support
to customers, including services such
as providing unbranded promotional
material, creating web pages and lead
generation. The systems have a 25-year
NEW BASE SHOE HITS MARKET
C.R. Laurence introduced the new 9BL base shoe for its
TAPER-LOC® Frameless Glass Balustrade System at The FIT Show.
»»TAPER-LOC® standard
base shoe was introduced
to the market a couple of
years ago and, says the
company, has been very
successful so far. According
to the business, the system
is 50% faster to install than
traditional alternatives.
For toughened/laminated
glass from 12mm-25.52mm
thick, it is a dry glaze
system, with no need for
cement. It is tested to meet
the strictest building code
requirements BS6180:2011,
CEBTP and AbZ.
A spokeswoman for C.R.
Laurence said: “The product
is unique because it uses
a horizontal TAPER-LOC®
design, which allows the
system to be adjusted,
dismantled and re-set. It is
ideal for replacing scratched
and broken panels in
existing applications.”
The new 9BL base shoe
has the same features and
more. It is designed and
‘ideal for replacing
scratched and
broken panels
in existing
applications’
engineered for 2015 IBC
code changes and is, says
the company, the only
laminated system pursuing
ICC-ES approval. It is for
laminated toughened glass
from 13.52mm to 21.52mm
thick, is 30% lighter than
standard base shoe, and
meets and exceeds 90kg
load with a 4x safety factor.
It is easier to handle and
install, reduces shipping/
construction costs, can
be cladded in 6 standard
architectural finishes, and
qualifies for LEED credits.

life expectancy and ten-year guarantee and

Mark added: “It’s all about good quality
and reputation. Price is important of course
and we are extremely competitive on
that.”
He added that the UK was “waking up to
outdoor living,” particularly householders
who took pride in their gardens and wanted
to enjoy them in all weathers.
