39 PRO INSTALLER JULY 2015 TOP TIPS UNLEASHED @proinstaller1 Top Tips Unleashed Synseal’s Brand New Celsius Solid Roof Synseal’s recently launched Celsius Solid Roof is a new and innovative system that employs a structural framework of timber components with environmentally-friendly Envirotile external roof tiles and cappings to create a truly warm solid roof construction. At the heart of the system are thermally-efficient structural insulated panels (SIPs) from Kingspan TEK Building Systems which are lined with a waterproof breather membrane prior to fitting the ventilated Synseal Envirotile external roofing components. Optional roof windows from VELUX are also available. It’s easy to install too as one of the first people to install it, Ray Bjelic of Barclay Developments Ltd testifies: “We had looked at several other solid roofs before but none of them were quite right for us, so we were pleased to see Synseal entering this market. As usual with Synseal the product was easy to install; we fitted a larger than normal roof in just 2 days and already have our next orders lined up.” A. Setting Wall Starter Timber – Secure timber eaves beam section to frames and set wall starter position over eaves beam timber. B. Roof Panel Fixed to Wall - Insert first roof panel over wall starter timber and resting onto eaves beam timber. Ensure that the panel is fully located and pushed up to the host wall. C. Roof Panel Assembly Method Insert butt joint cassette into first panel and fix using 40mm screws at 300mm centres. assembled ridge cap and ridge over hip tiles. Dry fit other ridge caps back to the wall, then fix using 140mm screws. You are now ready to fit the fascia board and guttering. J. E. Fitting Eaves Tray - Fix eaves tray to panels using 40mm screws at regular intervals and 100mm from each end. Overlap eaves tray sections by 100mm. F. Fitting Eaves Tile Bar – Once the starter soaker and breather membrane has been fitted, fix lower tile bar section over, locating up against edge of panel. Fix using 40mm screws at approximately 250mm centres and leave 10mm drainage gaps between tile bar sections. I. Ridge Caps – Place Tie Wires – Two solutions are available (suitable for fitting with or without an internal pelmet). Drill pilot holes at appropriate locations for the tie wire bracket. Ensure the holes fall either side of a panel joint. Fix bracket then fit wire into brackets. D. Fixing Roof Panel to Eaves Infill Timber – After inserting Georgian hip rafter into position and fixing panels, insert eaves infill timber into position. G. Tiling – Working in a clockwise direction around the roof, fit first tile onto the bar and push up to wall end, leaving a gap of 40mm from wall. Start next row with cut down double tile and tile along the row as before. H. Hip Caps – Join each hip end cap to a section of hip cap and run 20mmx25mm expanding foam along the underside of each edge. Fix in place using 140mm screws.
