SPARKIES SNUB THE PUB

Hard working sparkies would rather spend time with their families than in the pub , a study has found . Quality time with loved ones came out on top above earning extra money and spending time in a boozer , showing that UK electricians think family is the most important thing despite working long hours .
The research , by hand tool supplier C . K tools , revealed how electricians spend their time at work , the challenges they face and how they would choose to spend their time if they could work more efficiently . It showed :
• 51 per cent of electricians wish they could spend more time with their families
• A fifth of electricians work more than 50 hours a week
• Botched DIY jobs make up a quarter of electricians ’ workload After spending time with family , earning extra money doing additional jobs came out as the thing most electricians would do with an extra hour in the day . But held back by inefficient tools , the chance of completing work faster is difficult . Charles Alan Whitfield , new product development manager at C . K tools , said : “ We understand the pressures faced by electricians , and tradesmen in general , with long working hours , health and safety risks of working with electricity , and of course the reported challenges of dodgy DIY to repair .” The business conducted the research online as part of promoting its newly enhanced C . K Redline VDE Side Cutters tool . The company says the side cutters require up to 18 per cent less force than other brands .

Year-round performance

The new A ++, 0.8 U-value Inliten triple glazed window range by Camden offers year round performance – in rain , hail , snow , or sunshine .
The windows are engineered for customers looking for optimum thermal performance . Roy Harrison , GB sales manager at Camden , said : “ In winter , customers naturally want to keep their homes warm and cut their energy bills . Walls typically have a very low U-value of around 0.3 , but they represent a large chunk of your external surface . “ Windows don ’ t have the same surface , but have a higher U-value . Typically , with old single glazing having a U-value of around 5 and older double glazing about 3 , the Inliten A ++ makes a real difference in energy usage . Even compared to modern , high performance 1.2 U-value
‘ benefits of less condensation inside ’
double glazing , the new system prevents heat loss by over 43 %.” He added that , in summer , customers wanted something that helped keep the house cooler and the low-e coated glass on the Inliten A ++ allowed significantly less solar gain than double glazing , which helps keep the home from over-heating . There were also added benefits of less condensation inside , plus enhanced security and safety , a choice of styles , colours and finishes and a 15-year guarantee on frames and glass .
