36 DECEMBER 2015 PRO INSTALLER PRO PRODUCTS www.proinstaller.co.uk New corner protector Bohle has launched a new and flexible disposable glass corner protector delivering enhanced product protection for processed glass. Suitable for use with 8mm and 10mm glass, the Bohle Blue Corner Protector is manufactured from a specially developed plastic compound designed to absorb energy without cracking. Performance is further enhanced through the use of a textured surface designed to dissipate the energy of impact, while innovative impact absorbing inserts deliver additional protection. Dave Broxton, Managing Director, Bohle, said: “The compound the Bohle Blue Corner Protector is moulded from has been developed to strike exactly the right balance between rigidity, to prevent perforation and the flexibility needed to dispel the energy created by impact. “We have been able to enhance its impact absorbing performance further by creating a dimpled surface texture that allows energy to be dispelled more efficiently than a flat surface and through the use of internal fillets, which collapse in on themselves to protect the glass from damage.” Bohle developed the Blue Corner Protector in response to customer demand for a disposable but enhanced performance, corner protector for use with higher value and in particular, processed glass, manufacturing the prototype following a five month research and development programme. “This is a mid-range product”, continued Dave. “We see it being used with processed products, which have already been drilled, tempered, or sand blasted. It’s much more robust than a standard offer corner protector but is being released at a price point, which means that it remains a disposable item. This enhanced performance and the fact that the Bohle Blue Corner Protector can be used with both 8mm and 10mm glass, will deliver significant savings to glass processors.” www.bohle-group.com REVOLUTIONARY LIGHTWEIGHT OPENING ROOFLIGHT Roof Maker, the UK’s leading manufacturer of skylights and roof lanterns has launched a revolutionary new hinged opening flat rooflight, believed to be the lightest and most energy efficient product of its kind on the market. Its unique design incorporates industry leading Heat-Mirror© technology a new generation high tech low-emissivity film, which reduces the weight of triple glazing by 33% for easy handling, increasing the potential to create larger glazed areas. Designed to exceed Passivhaus standards, the Heat-Mirror® IG units are constructed with British Standard triple safety glass and energy efficient low e glazing, delivering centre-of-glass U-values as low as 0.3W/m2K. Furthermore, the units combine with Roof Maker’s super-insulated composite kerb design with its unique phenolic foam core, to achieve an overall product U-value of 0.6 W/ m2K - the best on the market for any opening rooflight. In addition to their outstanding energy saving performance, the glazed units include a 100% UV light block as standard to help protect furniture plus a blue tint option which will block over 95% of the sun’s infrared (IR) heat transmission to reduce dazzle and overheating. For superior weather resistance, the frameless structural glazing ensures that any water runs off without obstruction and the opening aluminium lid is fully welded for guaranteed waterproofing. With its sleek satin black polyester powder coated finish and narrow profiles, the hinged rooflight has an attractive contemporary appearance. The heavy-duty actuators are neatly concealed within the kerb and the lid opens up smoothly via a wall mounted rocker or switch, remote control or rain sensor to allow natural air conditioning. “With its pioneering technology this new generation of lightweight hinged openers sets new standards of energy efficiency, offering all round performance and value for money to customers,” said Chris Anthony, Sales Director at Roof Maker. www.roof-maker.co.uk
