But, amidst the merrymaking, safety can be overlooked. As candles, Christmas trees and mountains of wrapping paper can cause a fire hazard, distracted parents may also struggle to keep tabs on what dangerous adventures their excited young children are having. It is a sad fact that a number of children are killed – and thousands are injured – through falling from windows in the UK every year. So a leading safety campaigning firm is spreading the festive message that “There’s no better Christmas present than a Jackloc.” Jackloc, a British family company run by sisters Emma Well and Judith Burrows, created the award-winning, original universal window and door restrictor 10 years ago. Since then, as well as supplying an increasing range of restrictors, it has also campaigned tirelessly to educate people on the dangers of unrestricted windows.
