Marathon Effort by Camden

Camden Group is renowned for producing a range of high performance products , so guess how pleased the business was to find that six of its employees had become high performing ‘ Super Heroes ’, reigning in more than £ 1,500 for charity . Five of the company ’ s Antrim-based employees , Ciaran McCallister , John Robb , David O ’ Connor , Greg Loughran and Lee Shanley all pulled on their running shoes to run the 26-mile
Belfast marathon for suicide awareness charity Focus ( Focusing on Community and Understanding Suicide ). The charity based in Antrim and supported by Antrim Youth Counselling and Information Centre , is made up of a group of young people aged 15 – 25 who have experienced issues surrounding suicide and the impact it has on their lives . The marathon saw over 17,500 runners hit the streets of Belfast and the lads completed the gruelling
marathon in an impressive three hours and 33 minutes . Meanwhile , and a little over 700 miles away in the French capital , Kevin Kenny , Area Sales Manager of Camden ’ s Liverpool Trade Centre , set about pounding the streets of Paris with 6,934 other UK nationals and 57,000 total runners to raise monies for his chosen charity , Cancer Research UK . Not satisfied with just one marathon , Kevin then flew back to the UK to run the London Marathon for the
same charity . Kevin said : “ Customers and colleagues showed fantastic generosity and support during our training and whilst running the marathons . “ Personally , I wasn ’ t feeling too well at the time of the Paris marathon and didn ’ t hit my target plan , but I was delighted with a time of three hours 40 minutes in London .” The directors and staff of Camden are extremely proud of the efforts made by their Super Hero team .

Elliot rides out for charity

Elliot Parfitt has cycled 100 miles in the name of a charity very close to his heart .
The 23-year-old is the son of Sally and Mike Parfitt , who run Shepton Mallet ’ s Crusader Windows , a long-standing fabricator and installer of high quality VEKA window systems . Elliot , who works at the company on Charlton Road , took part in the Prudential RideLondon event at the end of July which saw professional and amateur cyclists participate in a 100-mile challenge on specially closed roads around London and Surrey . Having lived with a genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex ( TSC ) from birth , Elliot was riding to raise funds and awareness for the Tuberous Sclerosis Association , an organisation that has provided invaluable support for him and his family . Elliot said : “ TSC can affect different people in different ways and can cause growths on the brain , heart , eyes , kidneys , lungs and on the skin . For me , it started with severe fits as a baby , which thankfully haven ’ t returned since treatment at seven months old .
Due to TSC , I have mild learning difficulties , I am autistic , I have angiofibromas on my face and growths in my brain and kidneys ( including a particularly large one in my left kidney called an angiomyolipoma ) and a retinal astrocytoma in one of my eyes . “ TSC has affected me in a number of ways but I don ’ t let it rule my life . I wanted to complete the 100 miles and raise money and support for the Tuberous Sclerosis Association to thank them for being there for me and my family .” Elliot ’ s Mum Sally added : “ The association is an incredibly valuable resource for people living with TSC . The charity supports a fantastic , specialist clinic at the Royal United Hospital , Bath , with amazing doctors , and also funds research into what can be a devastating condition , while providing
advisors to offer much-needed support . Elliot ’ s Dad Mike and I are so proud of him .” If you ’ d like to support the Tuberous Sclerosis Association , you can find out more and donate at justgiving . com / fundraising / sally-parfitt Crusader Windows has recently made the change over to VEKA ’ s new M70 PVCu system , due to its contemporary good looks and even greater energy efficiency . GLAZERITE GOLF PRO ’ S FIRST MAJOR

Glazerite sponsored golf pro Ryan Evans has celebrated his first major by finishing 58th overall at the recent Open Championship at Royal Troon .
It was a fantastic result for the 29-year-old Northamptonshire player , who had no previous experience of playing on the famous Ayrshire links venue , and who only turned pro in 2014 after giving up his previous job of working in a call centre selling Avon Cosmetics . Glazerite has been a main sponsor of Ryan , who made his professional debut at the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship , for the last couple of years , helping him rise from the amateur ranks to his current world ranking of 538 . Speaking in an interview for BBC Sport ahead of the 145th Open , Ryan said that he had become used to all the ‘ Ding dong , Avon ladies ’ jokes , and that he now had the chance ‘ to write my own history .’ John Hewitt , group chairman at The Glazerite UK Group Limited , said : “ I first got to know Ryan at Wellingborough Golf Club when
he was making a name for himself as an amateur , so it ’ s been fantastic to watch him progress to his first major at Royal Troon – especially as he ’ s an ambassador for Glazerite . “ Many of our customers are keen golfers , so we ’ re able to secure tickets for all the events he takes part in , plus we host a number of golf days throughout the year which have become fantastic social and networking events for our customers .”
