Eurosafe Solutions
has a new brochure
covering all aspects of
testing and inspection
of fall protection equipment.
The 16-page brochure
aimed at building owners
and estates and facilities
managers covers fixed access systems - such as handrail/guardrail, fall protection
systems, eyebolts, Personal
Protective Equipment, (PPE)
abseil access and lightning
protection.

Eurosafe Solutions, said:
“Our new brochure gives
a complete overview of
our testing and inspection services for different
types of equipment. It
also covers frequency
of inspection and which
regulations are relevant to
which type of equipment.
Our aim is that it becomes
a valuable source of information for any building
owner, property manager
or facilities management
company.”
In the brochure, Eurosafe
Solutions emphasises that if
work at height equipment
is not tested at frequent intervals, then workers could
be put at risk. It explains
how Eurosafe Solutions can
take care of a building’s fall
protection systems ensuring they are fully tested
and up to date, as well as
assessing workers’ individual requirements and
providing an appropriate
level of training.

mind for the building owner or facilities manager.”
The brochure outlines
how the Work at Height
Regulations (2005) state
that cable-based fall protection systems should be tested at least every 12 months,
as should PPE associated
with this equipment. In
addition, abseil anchors
should be tested at least
every six months, adhering to the Work at Height
legislation, including BS EN
365, BS EN 795 and BS EN
7883. Staff should also be
appropriately trained and
competent in carrying out
Work at Height. Inadequately trained staff have
been found to be a major
contribution to the cause of
accidents.

Lighthouse Summer Ball raises £75,000
Over 600 people arrived at the Honorary Artillery Company
in the heart of London to celebrate the 60th anniversary of
the Lighthouse Club – the construction industry charity.
The occasion was marked in
style along with long term
supporter, the Construction
Plant-hire Association (CPA),
also celebrating its 75th
anniversary.
Guests were welcomed with
champagne and cocktails in the
stunning orangery and crowds
spilled out to the garden to enjoy
the summer evening.
A three-course evening meal followed whilst Dan Boyles amazed
his audiences with mind blowing
trickery and ‘Rat Pack Swinging
Live’ went down a storm with
people up on their feet to classics
such as That’s Amore and New
York, New York.
The online silent auction fuelled
everyone’s competitive nature
and the star of the show, a ‘gold
digger’ donated by Kubota raised
an amazing £26,000.
The backdrop to the evening on
July 9 was a funfair, and festivities
ended with a live band. In total,
the evening raised a whopping
£75,000.

When Mark Smith started working for Peterborough-based PVCu fabricator
Trade Frame, he was an
office junior at a company
that was still very much in
its infancy.
Now, over 30 years later he has
worked his way up to become
managing director, and Trade
Frame is well placed for further
dramatic growth thanks to a recent acquisition by The Glaze rite
UK Group Limited.
Mark, who started work at
Trade Frame in July 1985, is not
the only long serving member of
staff at the company. Ian Harris,
who joined in November 1985, is
now the factory foreman, while
David Neve, team leader in the
dispatch department, started in
November 1986 – that’s three
employees with over 90 years
of industry experience between
them.
According to Mark, the industry
has changed dramatically from
the heydays of the 1980s to more
recent periods that have proved
to be more of a challenge.
He said: “When I started at Trade
Frame we were doing just 20
frames a week. More recently we
have been squeezed harder because of increased operating costs
and ever reducing margins on the
selling price of frames.
“However, thanks to the acquisition and subsequent investment
by Glazerite in February, we now
have a fantastic opportunity to not
only strengthen our position in the
market but to grow significantly in
the future.
“To be successful these days, you
need to be as efficient as possible
so we are overhauling the factory
with new machinery and production software including barcode
scanning that will allow customers
to track their orders. We will also
benefit from Glazerite’s expert
marketing support and online
ordering systems.”
Mark said staff experience, a
loyal customer base, and support
from Glaze rite should combine to
help Trade Frame achieve its goal
of 1,000 frames a week.
