8 AUGUST 2013 PRO INSTALLER PRO NEWS www.proinstaller.co.uk TRIPLE GOES ON GROWING Glazerite installers are defying the doom-mongers and proving that triple glazing is not just a fad nor a phase but a real boost for business as well as a welcome benefit for consumers. It is also emerging that the bonus of extra sound insulation is proving a major part of the buying decision – in some cases a bigger factor than the more obvious heat retention. Mark Pearce, MD of Andoverbased KJM Group, says he has not looked back since he first put triple glazing into his own home when he bought it two years ago. “Nearly 20% of all our window sales are triple glazed,” said Mark, “It’s a niche product that can be sold for a premium. In my own home, it has noticeably improved the sound insulation as well as giving me a warmer house and our customers say just the same.” New Chairman Chris Blantern, 54, is the new Chairman of the Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ And Manufacturers’ Association (PASMA), the trade body representing the mobile access tower industry. He takes over from Roger Verallo, who steps down after a period of four years in office. He is the first Chairman of the increasingly global association to come from the Hire Assembly membership category. Managing director of Sheffieldbased Hi-Point Access Ltd, a company he formed with his brother in November 1991, Chris Blantern has spent virtually all his working life in the access industry. Throughout his career he has been an enthusiastic champion of aluminium towers and the wide and varied applications for which they can be used. He has consistently advocated the need for the highest standards in training and safety for anyone involved in the work at height sector. “In taking over, I must first pay tribute to Roger Verallo who has done an exceptional job as Chairman,” says Chris. “I intend to follow his example and build on his legacy.” He added: “Over the next two years my aim is to promote safety and best practice across the industry.” www.pasma.co.uk KJM opted for the high-spec 44mm system from Glazerite on VEKA profile because he says consumers are buying on the strength of the U Values that can be achieved. Glazerite Director Jason Thompson concluded, “We have always supported our customers in promoting triple glazing and now we see that decision is paying off.” www.glazeritewindows.co.uk EXCLUSIVE HARDWARE PARTNERSHIP Synseal has once again proved that systems suppliers should be relied on for more than just lengths of profile, by signing an exclusive hardware supply agreement with Crystal Direct. The Letchworthbased fabricator has been buying all of its hardware from Synseal since the end of 2012, a decision that was based on more than just convenience. “Crystal Direct is one of the country’s premier fabricators,” says Tim Goldspink, Crystal’s Operations Director, “and we have achieved that status by developing strong relationships with our key specialist suppliers.” While buying hardware from its profile supplier certainly saves on paperwork and unnecessary deliveries, Crystal has discovered numerous other benefits, as Tim explains. “Primarily, this agreement is a further example of the close relationship we have with Synseal,” he said. “We have noticed a significant reduction in the number of call backs to jobs where the hardware has either failed, or not performed as expected.” “To put a figure on it, customer service calls associated with hardware failures fell by 29.6% between January and May this year. With that said, not only has the quality improved, but the choice in terms of available colours has been embraced by our customers.” Synseal’s Hardware Category Manager Mark Frain hands over some demonstration cases to Tim Goldspink, Crystal’s Operations Director, to show installers the quality products available to them. www.synseal.co.uk
