PRO INSTALLER AUGUST 2013 37 @proinstaller1 PRO NEWS Demos to Installer Sales Team Roof Assured by Sarnafil gave a product demonstration to members of the EEC Home Improvements sales team at their headquarters in Southport, Cheshire. EEC is a Sika Roof Assured registered installer and the demonstration was organised at the request of John Honeyball, Operations Director, EEC to give his sales team an overview of the application of the Sarnafil flat roof membrane. Using the Sika Sarnafil TSV (Technical Support vehicle) Brian McDonnell, North Applications Field Manager, Sika Sarnafil accompanied by Bob Newall, Business Development Manager, Sika Roof Assured, gave the demonstration on the techniques used to apply the Sarnafil flat roof membrane. Members of the EEC team were invited to have a go at welding, with great levels of success. Ewen Maclean, Operations Manager at EEC said: “This was an opportunity for our sales team to invest in their product knowledge and understand the key differentiators between the Sarnafil membrane and other flat roof products. Our ethos is ‘making your dream home a reality’ and so it’s important for our sales team to understand the technical and aesthetic features of the membrane. A demo like this is so much more enlightening than looking at a piece of literature and helps us to sell the features and benefits to our customers.” Bob Newall said: “A big thank you to EEC for giving us this golden op- portunity to demonstrate the quality of the Sarnafil products and its expert application techniques face to face to their sales team. The audience could see for themselves why the Sika Sarnafil model is so different from competitor flat roof applications and how this gives them a unique selling proposition. “One of the features of the Sarnafil flat roof membrane is that it can be applied in all weathers, which was aptly demonstrated as it rained most of the day we were there!” If you are interested in becoming a Sika Roof Assured installer visit www.roofassured.co.uk/ installer. For more information about EEC visit www. eechomeimprovements. co.uk/ Safety group is now 60 strong ...and growing The Powered Gate Group of the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) is now the largest industry body devoted to improving the safety of powered automatic gates. This follows the recruitment of its 60th member since the group was formed almost two years ago. All DHF Powered Gate Group companies must work within the guidance contained in the HSE-endorsed DHF Guide to Gate Safety Legislation and Standards. They must also put their installers through the DHF Gate Safety Diploma scheme, an intense two-day training course, the first of which is taking place later in the year. Training will be compulsory for all DHF members that make or install powered gates. The DHF set up its Powered Gate Group following a series of fatal accidents that involved wrongly specified or poorly installed automatic gates. The DHF rose to the challenge of Is a key really needed? VBH say ‘not with the Protect Z-TA lock range’. Hardware supplier VBH has added the automatic locking Maco Z-TA multi-point door lock to its range of keyless door locking solutions. Suitable for all Eurogroove doors, Z-TA features 3 locking latches, 2 hooks and a central deadbolt. When the door is closed all 3 latches pull the sash in against the frame, providing compression over the full door height. A magnet in the latchplate then triggers the locking mechanism to engage the deadbolt and hooks. A single turn of the cylinder now renders the door fully secure, making Z-TA ideal for the elderly or infirm. If no lever is fixed to the outside, it is not necessary to turn the key to deadlock the door, although VBH point out that it will still be required to gain entry. VBH marketing manager Gary Gleeson says ‘Whether the innovation makes our customer’s product more ‘exclusive’ or, more tangibly, better in use, it differentiates them from their competitors, thus allowing them to sell on features rather than price. Maco Z-TA scores well on both counts and impresses everyone we’ve shown it to.’ More on Maco Z-TA locks can be downloaded from www.vbhgb.com or requested from 01634 263300. ‘DHF set up its Powered Gate Group following a series of fatal accidents’ providing an independent platform for the industry to drive up levels of safety in gate manufacture, installation and maintenance. www.dhfonline.org.uk .
