PRO INSTALLER AUGUST 2013 31 @proinstaller1 Richard Christie on BBC’s Don’t Get Done Get Dom PRO NEWS Top glass partnership for supplier and fabricator A 15-year partnership between hardware supplier t and Northwich Glass has seen the Cheshire-based fabricator fit no less than 60,000 of Kenrick’s Excalibur window locking systems. Northwich Glass now fits the Excalibur shootbolt as standard on the fully sculptured Synerjy profile system from Synseal. Both Excalibur and Synerjy have been designed to be quick and easy to fit, enabling Northwich Glass to maximise the speed and efficiency of every installation they do. Gerard Hickie, director at Northwich Glass, says: “When we started working with Kenrick back in the late 1990s, we chose them because of the quality of their product, their people and the after sales service they provided. And 15 years on, those reasons still stand true. Few relationships last the test of time, so we are very pleased to have shared such a successful partnership with Kenrick. Here’s to the next 15 years!” Steve Jones, Kenrick’s managing director added: “We are delighted to celebrate such a long-standing relationship with Northwich Glass. We look forward to continuing our partnership with them and helping to support their business long in to the future.” Don’t Get Done Get Dom Richard Christie, Chief Executive of the Double Glazing and Conservatory Ombudsman Scheme (DGCOS) appeared on BBC2 consumer rights programme, Don’t Get Done Get Dom on Monday 15th April, advising the show on condensation in conservatories. The show featured a homeowner who had battled with an installer for four years and had employed an independent inspector to find out what was causing their excessive condensation and mould problems. The installer was adamant the condensation was caused by the customer using a washing machine and tumble dryer in the conservatory. Condensation was not covered by their 10-year guarantee and as a result the company advised the room needed additional ventilation. In DGCOS’s experience, condensation can occur in conservatories but, the majority of cases, condensation is not caused by the conservatory itself. They are to do with the way that the conservatory is being used. Richard explains, “Anything that’s going to put moisture into the atmosphere is definitely something that you should avoid doing.” After the BBC2 consumer rights programme intervened, the installer employed an independent inspector who concluded that the customer was not at fault and the company rectified the problems.
