The VEKA UK Group has announced the transition of its entire range of PVCu window and door products to PAS 24:2016 , making it the first BSI Kitemark system supplier of PVCu to do so .

Accreditation manager Mark Barsby explained : “ We ’ ve been in discussions with our forward-thinking customers , BSI and Secured by Design since last July to ensure VEKA and Halo products meet the updated enhanced security standard , PAS 24:2016 .

“ The standard was published over a year ago and includes some changes , particularly related to doors . The previous version

– PAS 24:2012 – has now been withdrawn from the BSI website , and while Document Q will continue to reference it for some time , the latest Secured by Design Homes Guide already allows for compliance via the new standard .”

The VEKA UK Group ’ s sales director Neil Evans commented : “ Being the first systems supplier to achieve PAS 24:2016 across its entire range represents a significant investment for the group . It contains some product enhancements , as well as new products , that we will be announcing shortly .”

Epwin Window Systems will celebrate the launch of its Installer Support Scheme at FIT Show by throwing its weight behind the event ’ s Master Fitter Challenge . The company is demonstrating its focus on working closer with installers by sponsoring the window competition of the Master Fitter Challenge , in which six teams compete during the show to fit fenestration products .

With competitors working to install a bi-folding door , a residential door , a lantern roof and windows provided by Epwin Window Systems , pressure is compounded by the lure of total prize money of £ 10,000 but even more so , the desire to be the best .

Phoenix Doors has increased its composite door and PVCu door panel production capacity with a move to much larger premises in Huntingdon , Cambridgeshire .

Formerly occupied by Lola Cars International Ltd , the racing car engineering company , the new 75,000 sq ft site brings all Phoenix Doors ’ manufacturing operations under one roof .

“ Our new HQ gives us plenty of space , enabling us to further improve our production efficiency and expand our customer offering ,” says Haydon Statham , sales director .

“ With the group ’ s backing , we have invested significantly in new personnel , plant and equipment that will help to take the business to new levels of growth and - just as importantly - to deliver the service our customers both expect and deserve .”

The new building also houses a purpose-built showroom showcasing the

latest additions to the Phoenix Doors range . Investment included a new beam saw and a doubling up of machinery as well as a second spray booth in response to the growing trend for coloured doors .
