TOYS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHARITY

Donations for a Gloucestershire-based special needs charity have been flooding in after a fundraising auction at the Atlas Installation of the Year awards .
The awards , held to honour the industry ’ s finest orangery , conservatory or roof light installations , spurred guests to dig deep to raise £ 3,500 for the Spring Centre in Gloucester . The funds will be used to buy much-needed specialised toys which will boost the toy library at the centre .
The Spring Centre needs to raise £ 10,000 a month to support the families of more than 100 youngsters with disabilities and special needs throughout Gloucestershire . This donation from Atlas rounds off two years of fundraising by Atlas ’ parent company the Customade Group which has raised a total of £ 48,000 .
Nick Gibbons , Customade group operations director ,
said : “ This fantastic charity is very close to our hearts . My 13-year old daughter Niamh , who suffers from a genetic condition and needs 24-hour care , regularly visits The Spring Centre for essential respite care . We
are delighted to have raised such a terrific amount of money for the centre over the last two years .”

GLASS FOR POOLSIDE SAFETY

TuffX processed glass has supplied 11.5mm of clear toughened laminated glass to Oldham Leisure Centre for its swimming pool and spectator area . The leisure centre was due a renovation and having brought in an investment of over £ 15 million , it was the perfect time to completely change everything about the centre , including the swimming area .
The contractors contacted TuffX and explained that they needed a large amount of safety glass that would be good for
balconies and walkways within a pool area . They needed to ensure that their customer ’ s safety was not at risk and wanted the area to look visually aesthetic . TuffX suggested that clear toughened laminated glass would be ideal for the job . It looks appealing and bespoke , it is safe and if it ever encounters a breakage the glass will shatter into small particles that will be held into place by a cast in place interlayer . The installers agreed and went ahead with the job .

STEVENSWOOD GROWS IN TRUEMANS DEAL

Trade counter group Stevenswood has acquired the £ 10million-sales Truemans chain , to support Stevenswood ’ s ambition to develop a national network of trade counters .
Truemans , a wholly owned family business established in 1997 , is a rapidly growing trade counter group , operating four trade counters in Burnley , Doncaster , Sheffield and Crewe with another scheduled to open in Reading this spring . The company employs 41 people .
Strategically , the acquisition presented the perfect opportunity for further expansion , as the Truemans stores complete
important gaps in Stevenswood ’ s presence in England . Trueman ’ s managing director Joe Trueman will join the Stevenswood senior management team as commercial director filling an important role to drive Stevenswood ’ s continued growth strategy . The new combined group will continue to be headquartered in Livingston and will have over 30 branches across the UK , generating revenues of over £ 40m and employing over 165 people .
The completion of the acquisition marked the retirement of Ron Hepburn , Stevenswood ’ s founder . He said the acquisition of Polyframe ’ s trade centres in November was the culmination of his 20-year ambition to grow his once young business into the successful enterprise it is today .
John Declerck is the new group chief executive officer of Stevenswood . He said : “ The coming together of Truemans and Stevenswood underlines our mutual
