34 APRIL 2015 PRO INSTALLER SPRING FORWARD www.proinstaller.co.uk Peace and quiet for savvy homeowners Indications that property owners are becoming more savvy about how to get the best from energy saving improvements to their homes has been underlined by the decision of a Berkshire resident to insist on illbruck’s A-Rated Installation System being used to ensure his new windows achieved their full potential once fitted. Mr Richard Hill, who lives in Langford bear Biggleswade, called on Bedfordshire-based Scorpio Windows to replace the existing fenestration in his 1970s house, but was concerned that completing the work with the traditional silicone bead seal around the perimeter might not match the performance potential of the new PVCu windows. Colin Pepper, Director for Scorpio Windows, commented, “This contract included the installation of 15 number high performance A-rated PVCu casement windows featuring 28mm double glazed IG units, with Low E glass and Argon gas filling, and using warm edge spacer bars. In the case of this installation we found the illbruck products slightly more time consuming, but relatively easy to use; resulting in a very satisfactory result.” The customer added: “I am delighted with the look of my new windows and I have really noticed a difference in how warm the house is as well as how quiet it is.” 78% of installers optimistic about composite door sales One of the biggest industry surveys has forecast strong growth for the composite door market. Researched by DoorStop in January 2015, 1,020 companies were surveyed, with a net 73% forecasting an improvement in sales (78% predicting an increase less 5% expecting a fall). Patrick Dean, Door-Stop’s Head of Sales and Marketing adds: “The figures suggest very strong growth for the overall market. Installers are optimistic – and rightly so. Consumer confidence is high and the falling price of oil means people have more disposable income. All this is good news for home Chart showing 78% of installers are optimistic about composite door sales in 2015 improvements generally but composite doors are also benefiting from the continuing decline in PVC panels. It’s looking good for the composite door market in 2015.” Almost half (45%) of respondents said they were ‘very optimistic’ for composite door sales with 33% saying 2015 ‘should be better’ than 2014. Only 5% of those surveyed expect worse sales. Visit www.door-stop. co.uk/marketing to find out how Door-Stop can help installers sell more doors.
