LETTER from the EDITOR

Dear Friends and Colleagues: We’re living in uncertain and troubled times. The very notion of truth is being called into question. We’re not talking about creating grey areas to communicate a point of view or well-packaged spin. We’re talking about downright lying. We are being lied to and we know it. We have no choice but to rely on our own ambition. We have to create a vision for ourselves, a strategy, and a precise map to find our way along the road of this long, dark night.
No matter what type of government is in power, we owe it to ourselves to work well with each other. We’re going to do business together. We’re going to create great works of art and communicate great ideas. We will invent new technology and make advances in business, medicine, science, law, art, and education. In our own communities, we’re going to press on and help one another to pursue good lives. We will raise our children to be good people.
In a time of great flux, it is often the artists who help us to see the truth. Art encompasses many disciplines: artists, poets, writers, filmmakers, actors, entertainers, and designers. Our creative thinkers can show us all of the ways we can understand and experience freedom. Keep your eyes and ears open. Hold onto your ambition. Hold onto your freedom and don’t let go.
