Making women feel beautiful
When LaDonna Adams became a widow at a young
age, and a single mom to three sons, she had to turn
her hobby of doing hair into a way to make a living. “I
knew that getting the cosmetology license was a tool to
a better life,” says Adams.
Her proudest achievement to date, though,
is her business, Tresses Au Naturale. The
company, which she established with
Christina Williams, is Kansas City’s leading
supplier of pure hair. The company is also
the first and only Black-owned hair supplier

She has enjoyed a 22-year relationship as a platform
stylist with SoftSheen-Carson, a leading manufacturer
of hair care products. The platform stylist is considered
a “rock star” stylist who displays their skills and artistry
at industry hair shows. The platform stylist is part
educator, communicator, salesperson and entertainer.

Having a dynamic team of StyleProFessionals is key. These hair care
professionals and Tresses Au Naturale
retailers include: Jackie Emery of Regency
Beauty Institute, Keara Austin of Hair.Art.
Studio, Christy Williams of Atlanta Georgia;
and Jajuana Ferrell, the traveling stylist.
Her extensive experience has led Adams to win
international competitions, receive certification from
the American Cancer Society for her participation in the
Look Good Feel Better program, as well as implement
the netting method for hair integration services. She is
teaching her skills to a new generation of hairstylists as
a licensed instructor.
