MICHAEL KNOX
21 years old from Pleasant Grove, AL
President, Ambassador’s Club; 2015 Mr. Ambassador
2016 Mr. Veteran’s Service; 2016 HVAC Student of the Year
“I am now not only getting in-field experience, but I
will also have a job upon graduation in May 2017”
If you’re curious about the HVAC program, Michael Knox is the
one to ask! Not only was he HVAC Student of the Year, but he also
has an impressive 3.8 GPA and has made the Dean’s List every
single semester during his time at Lawson State
Community College.
Michael says, “Choosing HVAC at Lawson State Community
College has been a life-altering opportunity for me. I have found
truth in their slogan, Start Here, Go Anywhere. When I first came
to Lawson I did not even know how to turn a wrench, but the
instructors have never done anything except encourage me along
the way while teaching me everything I need to know.”
One thing Michael wants prospective students to know is how
prepared he feels to enter the job market. “My instructors have
gone out of their way to not only ensure that I have the techni-
cal skills needed to complete the job I am being trained for, but
to teach the people skills needed as well.” The combination of
choosing an in-demand field and the comprehensive training
and education he has received is paying off already. Michael says,
“Because of this I was able to get my first job at Standard Heating
and Air. I am not only getting in-field experience, but I will also
have a job upon graduation in May 2017.”
