“ Believing is achieving .” Meleah explains , “ This is an actual family motto that my grandmother said she was taught by her parents , and it worked well for her . I know that if I set my mind to accomplishing any task , I will be successful .”
her story
Meleah takes her academics very seriously , and has been able to join several Honor Societies as a result . She enjoys donating her time to her community- she volunteers with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Teens Need Teens . Meleah serves on the Minority Achievement Council at Hoover HS , as well as the Christian organization “ Undivided .” Her ultimate goal in all she does is learning more and helping others . Throughout her life , one of the most important things Meleah has learned is that mistakes and failures are normal . She offers this wise advice to other teens : “ Mistakes help a person recognize what they did wrong . Don ’ t let mistakes discourage you from trying new things .”
what ’ s next
“ My career goal is to be an engineer . Specifically , I want to be a material engineer because of the expanding ideas happening in this field .” Meleah is already making great strides to reach her goals- she attended the UAB Materials Engineering Camp in 2016 , as well as the Auburn University Women in Engineering Camp , during which she received a full-tuition scholarship .
