how it began
Courtney Wood has continually demonstrated that she’s
capable of setting herself apart. Despite traditionally being too
young to serve as a captain or co-captain of a high school team,
Courtney has proven that she has what it takes to excel in such
a position regardless of her classification.
For three years, Courtney has served as co-captain of Color
Guard at Helena High School. She has helped to lead the
team in winning several state and local competitions and has
competed against the best high school color guard teams in
Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky.
In 2011, Courtney was selected to become a young
ambassador of Helena as a founding member of the Helena
Belles—a service organization for high school girls to learn
how to be “Southern Belles” and get involved in their community.
Courtney went the extra mile to help make more than 100
scarves for the homeless with Under the Bridge Ministries.
“My parents have shown me through their own work ethic
that hard work and dedication to all that I do will make me
successful,” Courtney said.
what’s next
