Despite traditionally being too young to serve as a captain or co-captain of a high school team, Courtney has proven that she has what it takes to excel in such a position regardless of her classification. For three years, Courtney has served as co-captain of Color Guard at Helena High School. She has helped to lead the team in winning several state and local competitions and has competed against the best high school color guard teams in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky. In 2011, Courtney was selected to become a young ambassador of Helena as a founding member of the Helena Belles—a service organization for high school girls to learn how to be “Southern Belles” and get involved in their community.
