Saint James Electives Place
Graduates a Step Ahead
Saint James School high school students in Mrs. Evelyn Shoults’ Photography II
and Graphic Design classes spent a day outside their classroom gaining a real
world view of different creative industries including printing, photography, and
graphic design.
During the last week of March, Mrs. Shoults and her students visited Walker360
and Stamp Idea Group in Montgomery to meet with industry professionals and
to gain a first-hand look into their potential future careers. The students were
able to see the creative process—from concept to design to production. “It was
a very useful experience to see the actual way that design and print companies
work as well as how they are uniquely different from each other,” said Whitman
Kent, Saint James Sophomore in Graphic Design. Saint James Photography
II Junior, Maddie Olszewski said, “They all love their jobs so much—they are
willing to go to extreme lengths to capture the perfect image—like repelling off
a building, dancing in the rain on a roof, and standing on a stack of shaking
rubble. Producing the most creative image is so important, they are willing to
push themselves to the limit for the perfect shot.”
“In a very practical sense, I expose students to various creative industries so they
see the technology and programs they use in our classroom are the same that the
professionals use,” said Mrs. Shoults. “I want them to understand that they will
be a step ahead in their field when they graduate from Saint James.”

Prattville High School Junior
Participatses in Olympic
Development Program
Prattville High School Junior Cami Rogers participated
in the Olympic development program last summer and
played for the Alabama State team. At Montevallo, she
tried out with 350 girls from all over the southeast region of the US (girls from
Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, etc.). Out of 350 girls, they first selected
a group of 50 players which included Rogers. They then narrowed the selection
to a group of 18 players, again including Rogers. The final 18 players selected
were to go to Boca Raton, FL, to play the top 60 players in the country. The final
selection was a roster of 16 girls, of which she was one, to go to Buenos, Aires
Argentina. In Argentina, she and her team played the top 3 women’s professional
soccer teams, winning the first 2 and tying the last. In August of 2015, Rogers
committed to play soccer at Auburn University.
