Catherine E. M artin is Professor Emeritus, California State
University at Los Angeles; Associate Faculty, Mohave Community
College-Kingman; and Adjunct Professor, Northern Arizona
University. Her research interests lie in the areas of gender,
ethnicity, human ecology and education. Her most recent publication
is "Educating to Combat Racism: The Civic Role of Anthropology," in
Anthropology 6* Education Quarterly, June 1996.
Armin W. Martin is a student in psychology at Northern Arizona
University, where he holds two internship positions. He has
traveled widely and recently returned from study abroad in
Australia. He is particularly interested in child welfare.
