The condition of the field weighed in heavily on the flow of the game though and several of the subsequent goals came from penalties as outright runs proved difficult to complete. The second chukker saw only a single goal as Jamie Dickson sent home a 30-yard penalty. This lead was shortlived though, as Taylor drew things level once again early in the third with another penalty; a 40-yarder this time. The game of one-up manship continued as the last two chukkers saw the most action. Dickson had a good run up the right hand side of the field as he headed to the Southern goal to put away his second goal of the day, however, Taylor was there once again to roll home a penalty and his hatrick of the game at that point. The third chukker however would not end on equal terms as Richard ‘The Velvet Helmet’ Gooding, sprang into action and gave Apes Hill a fourth goal at the end of the chukker. Thirty seconds into the fourth, Taylor got his hands on a 60-yard penalty that he cracked home to bring his tally up to four goals. Other than Taylor, Marc Atwell was the only other player from his team to score and opened his account with a cheeky shot right in front the Northern goal. Dickson converted another penalty to draw things level at five goals apiece, however it was Atwell who sewed it shut with a long run on a counter attack, to escort the ball through the uprights on the horn. The match finished 6-5 with Apes Hill victorious over Republic Bank Weather conditions improved drastically for the second game of this 6 goal tournament and made for greater tempo at the Apes Hill polo field for the second match.
