Mackenzie:
Steadily
growing
and
blossoming. There was a great plus size shop
called ‘No Skinny’ that I modeled for at age
14 that had the younger plus girl in mind, but
they closed and it seemed there weren’t many
options. So I rely on Torrid, Forever 21, and
ASOS online. The designers here are slowly
starting to keep the double-digit women in
mind. For example, Portland Fashion Week
had plus models on the runway. One of my
favorite local designers is Kenneth Doswell
of Betty Jean Couture. He makes flawless,
beautiful, tailored clothing for plus sizes.
His show was the first I had ever been in, and
it was so fabulous. I am also a Spokesmodel
for the Portland Local Girls Fashion Project,
which helps girls of all body types, who may
have barriers in their life, with access to local
insiders in the industry. I also just became
Teen Oregon Plus USA, which I hope will
bring more awareness for the younger plussize girls in my state.

The plus industry is...
Mackenzie: Pivotal in helping to change the
way the double-digit girl thinks of herself.
