T ucked away in the woods , with soaring beamed ceilings , the library has a comfortable lodge like feel .

The public is welcome seven days a week throughout the year .
The library began as the Violet Township Library in two small alcoves in the school building . The Library Board of Trustees , Violet Township Trustees and Pickerington Village Council passed a joint resolution and received a grant from the Carnegie Library Commission in the amount of $ 10,000 . The building at 15 E . Columbus Street was built . The name changed to the Pickerington Public Library in 1961 , better reflecting the location . The Carnegie Building now houses the Pickerington-Violet Historical Society . The library took up residence at the current location in 1993 . The Pickerington Public Library is classified as a school district library serving the Pickerington Local School District service area . Part of the Central Library Consortium , the catalog can tap into items that can be shared with 14 other library systems .
The library has a wide and varied book collection for children , teens and adults and in formats that fit every lifestyle ; audio , e-audio , eBooks , large and regular print . There are also DVDs , music CDs , and magazines .
Featuring an electronic classroom with a Smartboard where technology classes are offered , this room also doubles as the Homework Help Center . The HHC is open during the school year in the afternoons Monday through Friday . Meeting rooms are available for the public to reserve when not in use for library programs .
The Adult Services Department provides test proctoring , technology support for e-readers , and computer help in the library ’ s computer lab . The reference librarians are experienced and knowledgeable in servicing the public ’ s reading needs offering Readers Advisory suggestions for both fiction and non-fiction .
The library offers many different online databases available to library patrons . Hoopla for Streaming movies , television shows , music , and audiobooks to your computer and mobile devices , Zinio for instant digital access to favorite magazines and Overdrive is utilized to download eBooks , eAudiobooks and more , just to name a few .
The library programming team offers programs throughout the year for ages 9 months and up . On-going Storytimes , Summer Reading Program , Santa Saturday , Teen Author Fest , Big Comic Show , Lunch and Learn Professional Series , and the popular Self-Reliance Series . Many of these programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Pickerington Public Library through their bi-annual book sales and other fundraising endeavors .
