just returned from the 2016 USAPA National Championships
I and what a fantastic event it was . The competition keeps getting better and younger , the organization was outstanding and the coverage was often instantaneous . It was at the 2015 USAPA Nationals that a group of players and coaches got together and discussed whether the time was right to organize a formal teacher certification program . That idea turned into the birth of IPTPA . Our objective that first year was to develop a curriculum of agreed-upon basic pickleball fundamentals , identifying the correct strategies , shot selections and strokes for the beginner through intermediate player . We wanted to develop a three-step process , which led to IPTPA certification that set minimum standards of teaching excellence and clearly distinguished the pickleball instructor from coaches who were capitalizing on the growth of our sport but whose area of expertise may be tennis , squash , racquetball or another popular racquet sport .
IPTPA was organized as a not-for-proft organization and by April of 2016 , we launched our website and formally started certifying IPTPA teaching professionals . We currently have
