Intermediate Orchestra (Concert) Concert Orchestra is the non-auditioned orchestra at Harrison High School. Any students may take this class that have prior orchestra experience, and the literature is grade level IV. Educational emphasis is placed on standard instrumental technique, development of music reading and comprehension skills, developing ensemble skills, critical thinking skills, style, and an understanding of small group ensemble music, and orchestral literature. This class follows the Georgia Performance Standards for Orchestra at the Intermediate level which includes the following categories: Skills and Techniques/Performance, Creation, Critical Analysis/Investigate and Cultural and Historical Context. Literature will contain both Classical and Popular music. Students will perform both in small group ensemble projects and as a large group. Pre-requisites: Prior orchestral experience Grade Levels: 9-12 Terms Offered: Fall & Spring Units of Credit: 1.0 Quality Points: 0.0
